Network firewall

Services (DHCP and DNS)

DHCP scopes and DNS forwarders via the Service Manager.

Goal

Provide edge network services—DHCP scopes and DNS forwarders—from the appliance Service Manager.

Prerequisites

  • Interfaces/addresses for the scopes you intend to serve.
  • network.write.

Steps

  1. Open Network → Services.
  2. Create a DHCP scope (subnet/range/options as exposed in the form).
  3. Create a DNS forwarder (listen/upstream targets as required).
  4. Publish and bind clients to the appliance LAN for a lease test.

Tips

  • Reserved schema slots exist for NTP, RADIUS, and captive portal—do not document those as shipped UI until they appear in the console.
  • Prefer a lab VLAN before enabling DHCP on a production LAN segment.
  • DNS forwarders should point only at trusted resolvers.

Verify

  • Scope and forwarder rows appear under Services.
  • A test client receives a lease / resolves via the forwarder after publish (Linux).
